Tingling Fingers= Not Good
Do you experience numbness or tingling into the fingers when you drive for longer than 15 minutes? Do your fingers tingle when using a mouse at the computer? Do you feel the need to shake your hands in the air as if to “shake away the tingling”? You are not alone. I have seen hundreds of patients who feel like this is a daily event and that it has become normal. SHOCKER ALERT…. this is not normal. Your fingers should not go numb! Notice how I said “your fingers should not go numb”, not “your fingers should not go numb during these activities”. If you are experiencing numbness in the fingers, you should get check out. Your hands and fingers have a significant amount of nerves and circulatory structures all of which can be irritated. When irritated, these structures can cause a numb and tingly sensation. These circulatory and neural structures can be irritated anywhere between the hand and the neck. Let me reassure you that the numbness you are feeling is not coming from a lack of shaking your hands in the air. While this seems to be the temporary fix to the problem, and people around you look forward to the dance you perform every 15 minutes, there is a better solution.
